Alvin G. Fithian, age 92, of Quinton
Township died early Thursday morning, May 11, 2006 at South Jersey
Hospital-Elmer where he had been a patient for six days. He had been in
declining health for the past year.
Born in Salem he was the son of the
late Nelson and Sarah Winters Fithian and was the husband of the late
Ruth Ott Fithian. He was a lifetime Salem area resident.
Prior to retirement Mr. Fithian had
been employed at the E.I. DuPont Company Chambers works in Deepwater for
over 40 years.
He enjoyed horses and woodworking and
was always known for addressing men as “Bub” and women as “Youngin” when
he would meet them.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna
F. Jenkins and her husband Pete of Pennsville; a son, Rocky Fithian and
his wife Pearl of Loris, S.C.; four grandchildren, Mark Snyder and his
wife Randi of Penndal, PA, Karen Bassett and her husband Stephen of
Monument, CO, Debbie Janasiak and David Sutton of Bridgeton and Delbert
Fithian and Kelly Archer of Bridgeton; one cousin, Luke Fithian of
Salem; four home nurse’s aides whom he greatly appreciated; Beth,
Derrick, Dana and Omar, 6 great-grandchildren and 4
great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Roland
Fithian and two sisters, Addie Loper and Isabelle Fithian.
Funeral services and burial will be
private at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction
of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield
Township.
