Vester E. Gravley, Sr., 71, of
Bridgeton, died Saturday, May 6, 2006, in S. J. Regional Medical Center.
He had been in failing health for the past 8 years.
The husband of Loretta Kelley Gravley, he was born in Vivian, West
Virginia and was the son of the late James and Ollie Nixon Gravley. He
had been a Bridgeton resident for the past 10 years and prior to that
had lived in Upper Deerfield Township.
Retired for the past years, he had formerly been employed in the dietary
department at Cumberland Manor. Prior to that he had worked at the
former Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton for 28 years.
Vester was a member of the 25 Year Club of Owens-Illinois Glass Co. and
had formerly been a Cub Scout Leader of Pack 47 of Seabrook for 15
years.
Besides his wife, survivors include: four sons, Vester Eugene Gravley,
Jr., Monrovia, Md., James Howard Gravley, Dividing Creek, Leonard Mathew
Gravley, Deerfield Township and Christopher Kelly Gravley, Fairfield
Township; two sisters, Beulah Barber, West Virginia and Mabel Rotenberry,
Florida and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by several
brothers and sisters, including Beecher M. Gravley.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning, May 11, at 11:00
O’clock, in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper
Deerfield Township. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park,
Millville. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday
morning between 10:00 and 11:00 O’clock. Written condolences may be sent
