Mary E. Layton, 86, of Fairfield
Township, died in S. J. Regional Medical Center in Tuesday morning, May
23, 2006. She had been in failing health for the past 7 years.
The wife of the late Lewis G. Layton, she was born in Bridgeton and was
the daughter of the late Richard and Ida Morgan Abbott. She had been a
resident of Fairfield Township since 1961 and prior to that had lived in
Cedarville.
Mary was a member of the Cedarville Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Barbara J. Brett, Millville and Judith
A. Layton, Fairfield Township; two grandchildren, Bruce Hickman,
Bridgeton and Sherri Torrance, Millville; five great grandchildren and
one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a brother,
Earl Abbott.
Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main St.,
Cedarville, on Friday morning, May 26, at 11:00 O’clock. Burial will be
in Laurel Lawn Cemetery, Upper Deerfield Township. A viewing will be
held at the funeral home on Friday morning between 10:00 and 11:00
