Clarice Staple, 49, of Upper
Deerfield Township, died in South Jersey Extended Care, Bridgeton, on
Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, after an extended illness.
The wife of John “Eddie” Staple, she was born in Wilmington, Del., and
was the daughter of Catherine Neal Roberts of Marshalton, Del. and the
late James M. Roberts. She had been a resident of Seabrook for the past
16 years and prior to that had lived in Bridgeton.
Retired due to failing health, she had formerly been employed as
assistant manager with the WaWa Store at Pole Tavern and before that
with Bambergers and Macy’s in the Christiana Mall in Delaware.
Clarice was a graduate of Delaware State University, Class of 1979 and
was a member of the College Gospel Choir. She was also a graduate of
Thomas McKean High School in Wilmington, Class of 1975.
She enjoyed pottery and craftwork.
Besides her husband and mother, survivors include: two sisters, Cynthia
Roberts, Wilmington, Del. and Cathleen Roberts-Howard, Bear, Del.
Funeral services will be held in the Old Fort A. M. E. Church, 37 North
Old Baltimore Pike (Route 7), Christiana, Del., on Saturday morning,
Nov. 25, at 10:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park,
New Castle, Del. A viewing will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME,
1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Friday afternoon,
Nov. 24, between 12:00 and 3:00 O’clock and at the church on Saturday
morning between 9:00 and 10:00 O’clock. Written condolences may be sent
