Elna A. Burgess, age 87, of Bridgeton
died Friday morning, October 6, 2006 at Genesis-Millville Center.
Born in Newport, Tennessee she was
the daughter of the late Bruce and Lillie Hayes Burgess. She had been a
Bridgeton resident for the past 56 years.
Prior to her retirement, Ms. Burgess
had been employed with the P.J. Ritter Company, the M.C. Schrank Company
and the Seibel & Stern Clothing Company all of Bridgeton.
She is survived by a niece, Gail Holt
Myers who she raised as her own daughter, and Gail’s husband Jack E.
Myers both of Millville; their children who she treated as her
grandchildren, Michael W. Myers, his wife Georgette and their children
Stephen and Nicholas of Millville and Laura Myers Gabrylewicz and her
husband Joseph of Tuckahoe and their daughter, Victoria Langsdorf, and
two sisters, Dorothy Hance and Unevee (Bea) Burgess both of Bridgeton.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Ruble and Eddie Burgess and five
sisters, Mildred Inez Fowler, Beulah Fields, Eulah Burgess, Stella Sue
Storms and Geneva Haynes.
Funeral services will be held at the
Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway #77, Upper Deerfield Township
on Monday evening, October 9th at 7:30 p.m.
Friends may call on Monday evening
from 6 to 7:30 prior to the services at the funeral home.
Additional services will be held on Friday, October 13th at Manes
Funeral Home, 363 East Main Street, Newport, Tennessee.
Burial will be made at the Burgess
Family Cemetery in Newport.
