Ross M. Hayes, 99, of Port Norris,
died at his home on Thursday evening, Oct. 26, 2006.
The husband of the late Christine Smith Hayes, he was born in Monroe
Hall, Va. and was the son of the late George Fields and Susie Garnett.
He had been a Port Norris resident for over 50 years, coming from
Virginia.
Prior to his retirement he had been a supervisor with Snow Foods Co. in
Cape May for many years. He had also worked in the oyster industry in
Port Norris for several years.
In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include: one daughter, Barbara A. Johnson, Bridgeton; one
sister, Bernice Hill, New York City; seven grandchildren, including
Minnie F. Hayman of Port Norris; 23 great grandchildren; four great
grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death
by two daughters, Gladys Whittington and Patricia Hayes.
Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State
Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 2, at
1:00 O’clock.
Burial will be in Haleyville Cemetery, Commercial Township. A viewing
will be held at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon between 12:00 and
