Alvin Wade Lisa

Alvin Wade Lisa passed away in Vineland on Oct. 8, 2006, of natural causes. Alvin was a resident of the Goldfinch Residential Home in Bridgeton and will be greatly missed by the residents and staff there.

Alvin was born on July 7, 1932 in West Haven, Connecticut. His parents were Dominic and Laura Lisa. His father immigrated to the United States from Italy in 1904 and settled in the West Haven area. Dominic and Laura had 15 children.

Alvin was drafted in 1953 while living in Philadelphia. He served as a radio operator in the 1542nd Heavy Mortar Company in the 2nd Infantry Regiment of the 5th U. S. Infantry Division during the Occupation of Germany for nearly two years. He rose to the rank of Corporal and received an Honorable Discharge in 1955. Alvin was awarded the Occupation of Germany and National Defense Services Medals for his service. He was also a disabled veteran.

In his civilian life Alvin worked as a welder and sheet metal worker. He married three times and was the father of three children from two of the marriages. His oldest child was Marianne Judith who was born Oct. 10, 1959 in Houston, Texas to Alvin and his second wife. Known as “Judy” she preceded her father in death on April 20, 1994 at the age of 34 years. His second child, Danial Francis was born in Houston on March 30, 1961. Danial later changed his name to Lisarelli, the original family name, and is currently a staff sergeant in the U. S. Army Reserve and served in Iraq in 2005. Danial is married to his wife Leda and they have a five-year old daughter, Marianne Isabel. Alvin’s third child Laura Joy, was born in Dec. 1973 from his third wife.

Alvin is survived by his brothers, Willis Lisa of Belfast, Maine, Johnny Stout of Drexel Hill, Pa., his sisters Mona Lemaire of West Haven, Ct. and Patricia Duncan, Houston, TX. Alvin is also survived by his son, Danial F. Lisarelli, daughter-in-law Leda and granddaughter Marianne, all of Houston, TX. And his daughter Laura, a resident of Illinois.

Graveside funeral services in be held at the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, Hopewell Township, on Thursday morning, Oct. 19th, at 11:00 O’clock. Burial will follow the services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township.
