David L. Willis, 70, of Millville,
formerly of Newport, died suddenly and unexpectedly early Saturday
morning, Oct. 21, 2006, in the S. J. Regional Medical Center.
The husband of Marion “Mike” Bacon Willis, he was born in Stow Creek
Township and was the son of the late L. Gene Willis and Anna Margaret
Craig Willis. He and his wife had just moved to Millville two weeks ago.
Prior to that he had been a resident of Newport for 25 years, coming
from Upper Deerfield Township.
Prior to his retirement 8 years ago, Dave had been a salesman with the
former Tom Gogle Lincoln & Mercury Automobile Agency in Bridgeton, for
several years. He was a boat captain and had owned and operated the
“Hooker” charter boat in Fortescue for 18 years.
He was a Veteran of the U. S. Air Force and was a member of the
Fortescue Captains Association. Dave loved fishing and going out to
breakfast.
Besides his wife, survivors include: two sons, David L. Willis, Jr.,
Vineland and Mike T. Willis, Millville; two sisters, Joan Franks,
Minotola and Patricia Kenelia, Upper Deerfield Township; seven
grandchildren, Ashley, Amber, Tinker, Shelby, Jordan, Jessica and Mike,
Jr. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Kay Wilczynski and a
granddaughter, Aubree Willis.
Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the
family. There will be no public viewing. Funeral arrangements are under
the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township.
