Edgar Brown, Jr., aged 74, of
Fairfield Township, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, in the
Lincoln Nursing Center, Vineland.
He was born in Bridgeton and was the son of the late Edgar and Carolyn
Williams Brown. He had been a resident of Fairfield Township for 20
years.
Edgar attended the Bridgeton Public Schools. In 1951 he joined the
United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict.
He was formerly employed with AIMS Training School in Vineland, Murbeck
Co. in Bridgeton, Anchor Hocking Glass Co. in Salem and had worked for
the former Jersey Packing Co. in Bridgeton for 20 years.
He leaves to cherish his wife of 49 years, Lorraine Collins Brown;
eleven children, Antoinette Marshall (James) of Massachusetts, Dawn
Muringani (Nicholas), Mullica Hill, Yvette Brown, Glassboro, Guy Brown,
Illinois, Kiyonia, Gordon, Carmen, Angela, Violet and Chandra Brown, all
of Millville and Mary Scates, Salem; twenty four grandchildren; four
great grandchildren; three brothers, Hartley “Mickey” Brown (Ernestine)
and George Brown, Sr. (Mary), both of Bridgeton and Donald Brown, Sr.,
Salem; two sisters, Dolores “Suckie” Jamison, Bridgeton and Barbara
Loatman (Hartley), Millville. He was preceded in death by a grandchild,
Adina Marshall; one brother, Williston “Goosie” Brown and one sister,
Geraldine “Fatty” Hitchens.
Funeral services will be held in the Crusaders for Christ Evangelistic
Center, Reeves Road, Bridgeton, on Monday afternoon, Sept. 18, at 1:00
O’clock. Burial will be in Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, Hopewell
Township. A viewing will be held at the church on Monday between 11:00
and 1:00 O’clock, prior to the services. Funeral arrangements are under
the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township.
