Eugene C. Knight, 57, of Upper
Deerfield Township, died in South Jersey Regional Medical Center on
Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006. He had been a patient at the hospital for 2
weeks and in failing health for the past month.
The husband of Melinda Taylor Knight, he was born in Bridgeton and was
the son of the late Hampton and Maggie Gee. He had been a resident of
Upper Deerfield for 30 years and prior to that had lived in Bridgeton.
Prior to his retirement, due to poor health, Eugene had been employed
with the Upper Deerfield Township School System for 4 ˝ years and before
that with 7Up Bottling Co. in Bridgeton for 20 ˝ years.
Gene was a wonderful man and the best husband ever. He loved old cars,
trucks, westerns and writing stories.
Besides his wife, survivors include: four brothers, Leslie Knight,
Bridgeton, William Miller, Vineland, Frank Knight and Alexander Knight,
both of Bridgeton and three sisters, Gloria Knight, Pennsgrove and Peggy
Saterfield and Margie Pierce, both of Bridgeton.
Rev. Rick Holm will conduct funeral services in the PADGETT FUNERAL
HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Friday
morning, Oct. 6, at 11:00 O’clock. Cremation and inurnment will take
place in Laurel Lawn Crematory, Upper Deerfield Township. A viewing will
be held at the funeral home on Friday morning between 10:00 and 11:00
