Edward Lee Whitaker, Sr., age 68 of
Upper Deerfield Township died Friday evening, September 29, 2006 at his
home. He had been in declining health for the past ten months.
Born in Fairfield, North Carolina the
son of the late Harvey and Amandy McCloud Whitaker, he was the husband
of Ruby Mason Whitaker. He had been an Upper Deerfield Township resident
for 40 years and prior to that had lived in Virginia and North Carolina.
Most recently Mr. Whitaker had been
employed with the Pittsgrove Township Board of Education as a school bus
driver. Before that he had worked for the Pillsbury Foods Company and
the Green Giant Foods Company in Vineland many years, Red Pack Foods in
Cedarville and Clement Pappas & Company in Seabrook.
He was a member of the Elks Garden
State Lodge in Brotmanville.
In addition to his wife survivors
include a daughter, Doralene Whitaker of Upper Deerfield Township; two
sons, Edward Lee Whitaker, Jr. and his wife Angelika of Virginia Beach,
VA and Erick J. Whitaker of Upper Deerfield Township; a sister, Recy
Spencer of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Ashley Whitaker, Devon
Carter and Jeson Whitaker and a great grandson, Tyreke Whitaker. He was
predeceased by a brother, Robert Smith.
Friends may call on Tuesday evening,
October 3rd from 6 to 8 p.m. at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State
Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township.
Funeral services will be held on
Saturday, October 7th at the Star of Zion Church of Christ in Fairfield,
NC.
Burial will take place at Fairfield
Cemetery, Fairfield, NC.
