Howard E. Barker, 71, of Deerfield
Township, died in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia,
Pa., on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, after a brief illness. He had been a
patient at the hospital for 2 weeks.
The husband of Dorothy Ward Barker, he was born in Pressman’s Home, Ten.
and was the son of the late Charles C. Barker, Sr. and Katie Hixson
Barker. He had lived in Deerfield Township for 38 years and prior to
that had resided in Illinois and Tennessee.
Prior to his retirement he had been employed with Terrigno’s Bakery in
Bridgeton and he had also worked in the exterminating field.
Howard was a veteran of the United States Army.
Besides his wife, survivors include: two sons, Alan Barker, Deerfield
Township and Michael Barker, Fairton; four brothers, Charles Barker,
Illinois, Robert Barker, Morrison Barker and Larry Barker, all of
Tennessee; four sisters, Lelia Horner, Illinois, Pat Harris, Washington,
Janice Evans, Florida and Carolyn Manis, Tennessee; three grandchildren,
Michael Barker, Jr., Jessica Barker and Amanda Barker, all of Edgewater
Park, N. J.; one great granddaughter Kayla Barker, Millville and many
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Carver.
Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State
Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Monday morning, Dec. 17, at
11:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell
Township. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Monday morning
between 10:00 and 11:00 O’clock. Written condolences may be sent to the
