B. Neil Strang

B. Neil Strang, 71, of Upper Deerfield Township, died in Fox Chase Medical Center, Philadelphia, Pa., on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, after a brief illness. He had been a patient at the hospital for the past week.

The husband of Alayne J. Shimp Strang, he was born in Elmer and was the son of the late Harold C. Strang, Sr. and Beulah Glaspey Strang. He had lived in Upper Deerfield Township for 51 years and prior to that had been a resident of Elmer.

Retired since 2001, Neil had been employed as Postmaster of Monroeville, Rosenhayn and Fairton after 33 years of service with the U. S. Postal Service.. Prior to that he had worked at the former Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton.

He was an avid bowler and had formerly played with “Wednesday Night Owls” and the South Jersey Industrial League. He was very active with and a past president of the National Association of Post Masters of the United States. Neil was also an avid fisherman and a devoted grandfather.

Besides his wife, survivors include: two sons, Alan Strang and Mark Strang and his wife Stephanie, both of Upper Deerfield Township; one daughter, Tracy Sareyka and her husband Kyle of Mullica Hill; two sisters, Nancy Hutchinson, Upper Pittsgrove Township and Joy Burlingame, Mullica Hill and six grandchildren, Zachary Strang, Markie Strang, Colin Sareyka, Hannah Sareyka, Grant Sareyka and Evan Sareyka. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold C. Strang, Jr. and a sister, Maryann White.

Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Tuesday morning, Dec. 18, at 11:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Friendship-Finley Cemetery, Upper Deerfield Township. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Monday evening between 6:00 and 8:00 O’clock and on Tuesday morning between 10:00 and 11:00 O’clock. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations, in Mr. Strang’s memory, to either Fox-Chase Cancer Center Leukemia Research, 333 Cottman Ave., Philadelphia, Pa. 19111, Gloucester County Christian School, 151 Golf Club Road, Sewell, N. J. 08080 or Deerfield United Methodist Church, 1561 State Highway 77, Bridgeton, N. J. 08302.
