Lewis D. Stratton, age 66 of Dividing
Creek died Thursday morning, December 20, 2007 at South Jersey
Hospital-Elmer. He had been in declining health for the past four years.
Born in Trenton, the son of the late Preston Stratton and Martha Dare
Stratton he was the husband of Peggy Barrett Stratton. He had been a
Dividing Creek resident for 31 years and prior to that had resided in
Deerfield and Bridgeton.
Before his retirement 6 years ago Mr. Stratton had been employed as a
truck driver with the Vineland Developmental Center for 5 years.
Previous to that he had been driver for Fogg’s Air Freight in Bridgeton
for 20 years.
He loved his family, animals and gardening.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters; Debra Capaldi
and her husband Joseph of Port Norris and Cathy Grusemeyer and her
husband Jim of Bridgeton; four stepchildren, Jeffrey Basile and his wife
Lisa of Millville, Susan Schweibinz and her husband John of Bridgeton,
Tanya McGrath and her husband Pat of Annapolis, MD and Donna Basile of
Havertown, PA; two brothers, Richard Stratton of Stow Creek and Joseph
Stratton of Germantown, MD, two grandchildren and nine
step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Preston
Stratton, Jr. and James Stratton.
At Mr. Stratton’s request there will be no funeral services.
Cremation and inurnment will take place at Laurel Lawn Crematory in
Upper Deerfield Township.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Mr. Stratton’s
memory be made to the Cumberland County S.P.C.A., 1244 North Delsea
Drive, Vineland, NJ 08360. Arrangements are under the direction of the
PADGETT FUNERL HOME, Cedarville.
