Philip R. Jemison, age 72, of
Lawrence Township died early Tuesday morning, February 6, 2007 at South
Jersey Hospital-Elmer where he had been a patient for two weeks. He had
been in declining health for the past month.
Born in Middlefield, Ohio the son of
the late Melvin and Lenora Clark Jemison he was the husband of Susan
Heckathorn Jemison. He had been a Lawrence Township resident for 35
years having moved there from Millville.
Mr. Jemison was a veteran of the
United States Navy serving during the Korean Conflict.
More recently he had been employed as a driver with the Sheppard Bus
Service in Fairfield Township. He had also worked with the maintenance
department for the Bridgeton Board of Education for several years from
which he retired.
He was a member of the First United
Methodist Church in Millville and a member of the districts Volunteers
in Missions Program having gone to Russia for missions work 6 times.
In addition to his wife, Susan, he is
survived by four daughters, Brenda Fidiaj of Sparta, NC, Elizabeth
Trumbauer of Chicago, IL, Barbara Garrett of Fairfield Township and
Kathy Bitting of Downe Township; two stepchildren, Scott Sturgis of
Millville and Janet McWethy of Fayetteville, AR along with 10
grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the
PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main Street, Cedarville on Friday, February
9th at 11 a.m.
Cremation and inurnment will take
place at Laurel Lawn Crematory in Upper Deerfield Township following the
services.
Friends may call on Friday morning
from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family asks
that contributions in Mr. Jemison’s memory be made to the American
Cancer Society, Cumberland Unit, P.O. Box 5066, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
