Donald O. Nicholson, age 77, of Upper
Deerfield Township died Monday, January 15, 2007 at his home. He had
been in declining health for the past five months.
Born in Philadelphia, the son of the
late Harold and Arlindus Cossaboon Nicholson he was the husband of Jane
Ney Nicholson. He had been an Upper Deerfield Township resident for 15
years coming to the area from Vineland.
Before his retirement 19 years ago
Mr. Nicholson had been employed with both the Kimble Glass Company and
Owens Illinois Glass Company in Vineland in the scientific department
for 34 years.
He was a veteran and had served with
the United States Army while being stationed in Japan.
Mr. Nicholson had served as the groundskeeper for the Cohansey Baptist
Church and was an avid outdoorsman and carpenter. He had previously
played ball with the Owens Illinois Team and was an umpire with many
Cumberland County leagues in addition to the Bridgeton Invitational
Tournament.
In addition to his wife, survivors
include five daughters, Shirley Gentile and husband Tom of Upper
Deerfield Twp., Sharon Kalfut and husband Tom of Carmel, Sandy Hodson
and husband Shawn of Earlville, MD, Sherry Ford and fiancé David of Egg
Harbor Twp. and Sue Willis and husband Mark of Upper Deerfield Twp.; two
sons, Steven Tobin and fiancée’ Mercedes of Hopewell Twp and Scott Tobin
and wife Brenda of Pennsville; two sisters, Emma Lou Pickeral and Lynn
Rogers both of FL, 14 grandchildren, a dear friend, Lester Gebhart of
Hopewell Twp. and best friend and companion, his dog, Molly. He is also
survived by a former son in law, William H. Ford, II. He was predeceased
by a son, Donald Nicholson.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
