Ralph S. Simkins, 75, of Shiloh, died
Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, in South Jersey Hospital System-Elmer. He had
been in f ailing health for 6 months and a patient in the hospital for
the past 2 months.
The husband of Nora Saddler Simkins, he was born in Bridgeton and was
the son of the late Leonard M. Simkins and Mary Davis Simkins. Mr. and
Mrs. Simkins had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past
Dec. 30th. He had been a resident of Shiloh for 40 years, coming from
Stow Creek Township.
Prior to his retirement in 1987, he had been employed with Anchor
Hocking Glass Co. in Salem for 30 years. As a young man he had also
worked at the family farm in Greenwich Township.
Ralph was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during the Korean
Conflict and was stationed in Japan.
Besides his wife, survivors include: one son, Ralph W. Simkins, Shiloh
and one sister, Emma Chainey, Hopewell Township. He was preceded in
death by three brothers, Edward, Leon and Harry Simkins and three
sisters, Florence Simkins, Mollie Hitchner and Phoebe Root.
Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State
Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 16, at
2:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Greenwich Presbyterian Cemetery,
Greenwich Township. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on
Tuesday afternoon between 1:00 and 2:00 O’clock. Written condolences may
