Serena G. Carter, age 88, died
Thursday evening, July 12, 2007 at the home of her daughter, Mary Ann
Davis with whom she resided in Fairton. She had been in declining health
for the past 17 years.
Born in Greenwich, the daughter of
the late Nathaniel and Mary Pierce Cuff she was the wife of the late
James E. Carter, Sr. She had lived at her present address for four years
and prior to that had resided on Stretch Road in Cohansey.
Before her retirement in 1979 she had
been employed with the Mark Manufacturing Company in Bridgeton for 30
years.
Mrs. Carter was a member of the
Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indians and loved going to the casinos and
attending “Fan Fair” in Nashville, Tennessee.
She is survived by a son, James E.
Carter, Jr. of Pittsgrove; three daughters, Elizabeth “Betty” Bracken of
Nashville, TN, Glendora Vazquez of Wareham, MA and Mary Ann Davis of
Fairton; four brothers, Linwood and Chester Cuff both of Millville,
Nathan Cuff of Gravely, OK and Morris Cuff of Woodstown; four sisters,
Glendora Pierce of Alloway Twp., Emma Seeney of Dover, DE, Hester
Ridgway of Fairton, Alta Worley of Cheswold, DE, 4 granddaughters, 3
grandsons and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister,
Lucy Pierce.
Private graveside funeral services
will be held at the convenience of the family at Fernwood Memorial Park
in Hopewell Township where the interment will follow the services.
