Charles Wright, age 95, of Bridgeton
died unexpectedly Thursday, July 19, 2007 at the South Jersey Regional
Medical Center where he had been a patient for one day.
A lifetime Bridgeton resident, he was
the son of the late Charles and Hannah Wright and the husband of the
late Frances Moore Wright.
An accomplished organist and pianist,
Mr. Wright had taught music at the Wright Music Studio in Bridgeton for
over 70 years. The Guinness Book of Records had recognized him for the
longest number (80) of consecutive years of teaching. He had been a
church organist for 50 years, serving 25 of those years at the First
United Methodist Church of Vineland where he was also choir director.
Mr. Wright was a member of FAGO,
Fellow of the American Guild of Organists and had recently completed a
book titled “How to Practice the Piano”. He had also written two
musicals with his late wife Frances for Clef & Curtain.
Surviving are a son, Peter D. Wright
and his wife Alice of Belle Mead; a grandson, David Wright of
Georgetown, Maine; two nephews, Harold A. Wright, Jr. and Terry Wright
both of Salem and 6 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at the
PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway #77, Upper Deerfield Township
on Wednesday, July 25th at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family asks
that contributions in Mr. Wright’s memory be made to the Bay-Atlantic
Symphony, 59 East Commerce Street, Bridgeton, NJ 08302.
