Peggy F. Thomas, 82, of Millville,
died unexpectedly in South Jersey Regional Medical Center on Saturday
morning, June 9, 2007.
The wife of the late James A. Thomas, she was born in Washington, D. C.,
and was daughter of the late William H. Jones and Geraldine Hawkins
Jones. She had been a resident of Millville for the past 40 years and
prior to that had lived in Philadelphia, Pa. and Washington, D. C. She
was also preceded in death by her first husband, William B. Bell.
Retired for the past 15 years, she had worked at Wheaton Glass Co. in
Millville for 39 years.
Peggy had previously been a representative of Union Local 219, G. M. P.
She was an avid bowler and enjoyed gardening in her yard. She attended
New Hope Baptist Church in Cedarville.
Survivors include: five sons, William Bell (Marion), Washington, D. C.,
Michael Bell (Sheila), Egg Harbor Township, Karl Haynes, Millville, Gari
Thomas Millville and James A. Thomas, III (Katherine), Marrietta, Ga.;
three daughters, Geraldine King (Robert), Vineland, Karen Gross
(Robert), Millville and Wanda Broome (Clarence), Egg Harbor Township;
one sister, Vera Frazier, Washington, D. C.; one brother, Carl Jones,
Silver Springs, Md.; thirty five grandchildren and fifty nine great
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Aaron Bell; three
brothers, William Jones, Dutch Jones and Gerald Jones and a sister,
Lillian Smith.
Funeral services will be held in New Hope Baptist Church, Shaffer
Avenue, Cedarville, on Saturday, June 16, at 12:00 O’clock noon. Burial
will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville. A viewing will be held at
the church on Saturday morning between 10:00 and 12:00 O’clock. Funeral
services are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper
