Mildred L. Matthews

Mildred L. Matthews, 89, of Bridgeton, died in the Cumberland Manor on Wednesday, March 14, 2007. She had been a resident of the Manor for over 20 years.

The wife of the late Walter L. Matthews, she was born in Johnson City, Tenn., and was the daughter of the late Maggie Bloodshaw. She had been a resident of Bridgeton for several years.

Mildred had formerly been employed with P. J Ritter Co. and Hunt’s Foods, both in Bridgeton. Before moving to New Jersey she had been a school teacher in Tennessee.

Survivors include: one daughter, Geraldine E. Matthews-Bloodworth, Bridgeton; one sister, Bethel Littlejohn, High Point, N. C.; two grandsons, Arlyn Matthews and Braison Matthews and his wife Robinetta, both of Bridgeton; a granddaughter, Corey Matthews, Bridgeton and three great grandchildren, Arlana Luconna, Philadelphia, Pa., Arnaisha Johnson and Emmanuel Matthews, both of Bridgeton.

Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Tuesday morning, March 27, at 11:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Hopewell Township. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday morning between 10:00 and 11:00 O’clock.
