Gertrude E. Smith, 87, of Millville,
died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the home of her son, Preston J. Smith
of Carrollton, Ohio.
The wife of the late Carlton W. Smith, she was born in Bridgeton and was
the daughter of the late Russell and Ella Cain Morgan. She had lived in
Carrollton for 5 years and prior to that had been a lifetime resident
the Bridgeton area.
Gertrude had formerly been employed with the Wheaton Tubing Co. in
Millville.
She was a member and former past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of
the Bridgeton Loyal Order of Moose and Eagles Lodge.
Gertrude enjoyed crocheting and reading.
Besides her son Preston, survivors include: daughters, Carol E. Kumiski,
Millville and Joan E. Lovell, Millville; son, Carlton W. Smith, Jr.,
Carrollton, Ohio; sisters, Joan Smaniotto, Vineland and Shirley Mathis,
Millville; brother, Russell Morgan, Bridgeton; fourteen grandchildren
and several great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by a daughter, Suzanne Honachi; one granddaughter and four
brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State
Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Friday morning, March 30, at
11:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Overlook Cemetery, Bridgeton. A viewing
will be held at the funeral home on Friday morning between 10:00 and
