Jean Govan Weems, 48, of Vineland,
died in the South Jersey HospiceCare Center, Bridgeton, on Saturday,
March 10, 2007. After an extended battle with cancer Jean has gone home
to be with her husband of 23 years, Leonard Weems.
Born in Bridgeton, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Marion
Haines Govan. She had lived in Vineland since 2003 and prior to that had
been a resident of Millville.
Jean had formerly been employed as a certified health aide with the
Vineland Nurses Association and prior to that with Progresso Foods Co.
in Vineland.
She was a member of the In His Presence Worship Center of Millville.
Survivors include: four sons, Joseph A. Govan, Matthew Govan, Travis
Govan and Robert Govan, all of Vineland; three daughters, Lenore “Angie”
Govan, Natalie Govan and Gabriele Govan, all of Vineland; eleven
sisters, Margie Pierce, Delaware, Marcia Johnson, Trenton, Delores Lee,
Millville, Terry Warren, Georgia, Joan Forman, Vineland, Vivian Martin,
Myrtle Beach, S. C., Caroline Channel, Georgia, Elizabeth Govan,
Atlantic City, Sharon Govan, Vineland, Jennie Butler, Bridgeton and
Martha Butler, Bridgeton; four brothers, David Govan, Georgia, Ronald
Govan, Georgia, Jackie Govan, Millville and Anthony Govan, Vineland;
three grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was
preceded in death by two brothers, Jeffrey Govan and Clarence Govan, Jr.
and a sister, Marion Govan.
Funeral services will be held in the In His Presence Worship Center, 221
East Broad St., Millville, on Friday, March 16, at 12:00 O’clock noon.
Burial will be in Haleyville Cemetery, Commercial Township. A viewing
will be held at the church on Friday morning between 11:00 and 12:00
O’clock. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT
