Frank S. “Corky” Carsten, Jr., aged
86, of Millville, formerly of Cedarville, died at he home of his
daughter Alice on Thursday, May 31, 2006. Although he had been in
declining health his death was unexpected.
The husband of the late Jeannette Borland Carsten, he was born in
Cedarville and was the son of the late Frank S. Carsten and Ester Ann
Loper Carsten. He had lived with his daughter for the past 6 years and
prior to that he had been a lifetime resident of Cedarville.
Retired for the past 25 years, he had been employed with the former
Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton for 30 years. After his retirement
he worked part time at the Cedar Packing Co. in Cedarville for a number
of years.
He was a member of the Cedarville Presbyterian Church.
Corky was a past president and one of the founders of the South
Cumberland Little League. He was also a former coach of the Cedarville
Pirates and the Schrank’s baseball team in the Bridgeton Babe Ruth
League. He had his wife Jeannette were co-founders of the South
Cumberland Cinderella League and the Princess Softball League.
He is survived by: one daughter, Alice B. Poyntos; one son, Stephen F.
Carsten and his wife Sandy; seven grandchildren, Hugh, Brian, Ronald,
Robbie, Stephenee, Stacee and Stephen; several great grandchildren and a
close friend, Margarita Encina. Frank was also preceded in death by a
son, Frank S. “Frankie” Carsten, III and two sisters, Alice Lilly and
Bertha Carsten.
Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main St.,
Cedarville, on Wednesday morning, June 6, at 10:00 O’clock. Burial will
be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedarville. A viewing will be held at the
funeral home on Tuesday evening between 7:00 and 9:00 O’clock. Written
