Milton S. Clark, Sr.

Milton S. Clark, Sr., 95, of Elmer, died in the Cumberland Manor on Thursday, May 10, 2007. He had been in failing health for the past 6 years.

The husband of the late Stella Ford Clark, who passed away in December of 2005, he was born in Del Rio, Tenn. and was the son of the late Rev. John Lewis Clark and Gertrude Pierce Clark. He had been a resident of Elmer for 60 years, coming from Tennessee.

Before his retirement in 1977, Milton had been employed with Jack White Welding in Elmer for 7 years. Prior to that he had worked for Anchor Hocking Glass Co. in Salem for 21 years. He had also been employed by the New York Ship Yard.

He was a member of the Elmer Republican Club and was a former member of the Elmer Borough Council. Milton was a founding member of Christ Community Tabernacle Church and had helped build the church. He was a former deacon of the church and church treasurer.

Survivors include: two sons, Milton Clark, Jr. and Gene L. Clark, both of Elmer; two daughters, Barbara S. Burgess, Vineland and Sandra J. Eppinger, Newfield; one brother, John L. Clark, Roebling, N. J.; three sisters, Delma Smith, Clayton, Ruth Dowell, Alexandria, Va. and Margaret Matthis, Oak Dale, Tenn; twelve grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Floyd Clark; a daughter, Dorothy Vosila; three brothers, Earl Clark, Aubrey Clark and Virgil Clark; two sisters, Mildred Oates and Bernice Garrison and a grandson, David Clark.

Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Monday morning, May 14, at 11:00 O’clock. Burial will be in the Centerton Free Will Baptist Cemetery, Pittsgrove. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Monday morning between 10:00 and 11:00 O’clock.
