Peter T. Heath, Sr., age 86, of Port
Norris died suddenly and unexpectedly at the South Jersey Regional
Medical Center in Vineland on Tuesday, May 15, 2007.
Born in Exmore, VA, the son of the
late Thomas and Maggie Jacobs Heath, he was the husband of the late
Katherine “Baby Sis” Hayman Heath. He had been a Port Norris resident
for 60 years and prior to that had resided in Port Norris.
Mr. Heath had been employed in the
seafood industry his entire working life and had worked for Charles Lore
in Newport as a commercial fisherman for over 20 years.
He was a veteran of World War Two
serving with the United States Army in the European, African, Middle
Eastern, Asian and Pacific Theaters.
An avid checker player he also
enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Surviving are four sons, George
Tankard of Lewes, DE, Robert Hayman and his wife Jeanette of Pocomoke
City, MD, Larry Heath and his wife Brenda of Port Norris and Peter T.
Heath, Jr. of Port Norris; four daughters, Maggie Martin and her husband
James of Queens, NY, Minnie Hayman of Port Norris, Hope Coursey of Port
Norris and Vanessa Bartley and her husband Anthony of Millville; a
sister, Mary Parks of Lincoln, DE, many grandchildren,
great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She was predeceased by
a brother, Otha Samples and seven sisters, Florine, Georgia, Amy,
Idacole, Marguerite, Ella and Fannie.
Funeral services will be held on
Saturday, May 19th at 1 p.m. from the Shiloh Baptist Church, Memorial
Avenue, Port Norris.
Burial will take place at Haleyville
Methodist Cemetery in Commercial Township.
Friends may call on Saturday from 12
to 1 p.m. prior to the services at the church.
