John E. “Sweet Heart” Langston, 66,
of Port Norris, died in the South Jersey Regional Medical Center in
Monday, May 21, 2007. He had been in failing health for the past year.
The husband of Marilyn Langston, he was born in Port Norris and was the
son of the late John and Lillian Hargis Langston. He was also
pre-deceased by Daisy and Acey Blake who helped raise him. He had been a
lifetime resident of Port Norris.
Prior to his retirement he had been employed with Showboat Casino-Hotel
in Atlantic City for several years.
John was an avid fisherman and enjoyed shooting pool.
Besides his wife, survivors include: two sons, John E. Langston, Jr. and
Tabiri Langston, Sr., both of Port Norris; one daughter, Temika
Langston-Myers, Port Norris; one brother, William Langston, Sr., Port
Norris and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister,
Ilene Langston.
Funeral services will be held in the Faith Tabernacle Church, 600 North
Avenue, Port Norris, on Saturday, May 26, at 12:00 O’clock noon. Burial
will be in Haleyville Cemetery, Commercial Township. A viewing will be
held at the church on Saturday morning between 11:00 and 12:00 O’clock.
