Dorothy M. Hildreth, age 93, of
Fairfield Township died Friday, November 16, 2007 at Genesis-Millville
Center.
Born in Camden, she was the daughter
of the late Paul and Florence Woodill Jeffers and the wife of the late
Kennard C. Hildreth, Sr. She had been a Fairfield Township resident
since 1943 moving there from Upper Deerfield Township.
Mrs. Hildreth retired in 1979 after
31 years of service as a teacher. She had taught in the Cedarville,
Fairton, Hopewell and Seabrook school systems. She had also served as a
member of the Cumberland County Rural Child Study Team as a Learning
Disability Specialist, retiring from that position as chairman.
A graduate of Glassboro State College
she held masters degrees in Administration/Supervision and Learning
Disabilities. She had been an active member of the Fairton United
Methodist Church for 63 years serving as a teacher, Sunday School
Superintendent, Junior Choir Director, Official Board Member and on
various other committees.
Her hobbies included china painting,
membership in the South Jersey China Painters Association, flower
gardening and traveling. She was an avid traveler throughout the world
and was among the first groups of American teachers to visit China after
its reopening to foreign visitors. As her health declined she became an
avid bird watcher and especially enjoyed Humming Birds.
She is survived by son, Kennard C.
Hildreth, Jr. of Fairfield Township; two daughters, Joan H. Adams of
Lancaster, PA and Florence H. Jones of Stone Harbor; a sister, Florence
Dix-Hartel of Fairfield Township, 8 grandchildren and 18
great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by four brothers, Robert, Paul,
George and John Jeffers.
Funeral services will be held on
Tuesday, November 20th at 11 a.m. at the Fairton United Methodist
Church, 20 Main Street, Fairton.
Burial will take place at Cedar Hill
Cemetery in Cedarville.
Friends may call on Tuesday morning
from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the services at the Church.
