Russell M. Sheppard, Sr.

Russell M. Sheppard, Sr., 64, of Cedarville, died in the emergency room of South Jersey Regional Hospital on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007. He had been in failing health for the past 5 months.

The husband of Otie Sutton Sheppard, he was born in Bridgeton and was the son of the late Melvin W. Sheppard and Alberta Schaffer Sheppard. He had been a resident of Cedarville for most of his life. He had formerly resided in the Back Neck Section of Fairton.

Prior to his retirement Russell had been employed with Raritan Engineering Co. in Millville. Before that he had worked for the former Bridgeton Dye & Finishing Co. in Bridgeton for 18 years. He had also been a self employed farmer.

He was a member of Evening Star Lodge # 97, F. & A. M. of Cedarville and had served two terms as Master of the Lodge. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his grandchildren. He also liked to spend time at his cabin in West Virginia.

Besides his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Terri A. Sheppard, Fairton; three sons, Russell M. Sheppard, Jr., Cedarville; Michael E. Sheppard, Vineland and Robert A. Sheppard, Cedarville; one brother, Phillip D. Sheppard, Kentucky; one sister, Carolyn Cook, Vineland and seven grandchildren, Dylan Sheppard, Chelsea Sheppard, Renee Sheppard, Russell Sheppard, III, Brandon Sheppard, Delaney Sheppard and Austin Loper.

Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL 160 Main Street, Cedarville, on Wednesday morning, Dec. 5, at 11:00 O’clock. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedarville. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday morning between 9:00 and 11:00 O’clock.
