Richard Norman Crowe

Richard Norman “Country” Crowe, 53, of Port Norris, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Camden and raised in Fairton by his loving grandparents, Ralph and Harriet Waddington Fleetwood, who preceded him in death.

Richard was the loving husband of Linda C. Crowe, nee Clark and loving father of Stefanie L. Vanmeter and Michelle L. Crowe, both of Port Norris; Linda C. Speranza and her husband Joseph of Ashville, Pa. and his “Baby Girl” Ruth Ann Vizzard and her husband John of Port Norris. He also had nine wonderful grandchildren that he adored: Brittany Crowe, Ashley Vizzard, Tyler Crowe, Lisa Vanmeter, Sara Vizzard, Brandy Vizzard, Steven Vanmeter, Joseph “Richard” Speranza and Adelena Speranza. He is also survived by two half-brothers, Esperto (Jr.) Sanchez and Enrique “Twinkie” Sanchez, both of Florida and a half-sister, Donna Clark of Texas; his mother Norma Dooley of Millville; his aunt, May Marquez of Fairton; his mother-in-law, Ruth E. Lore of Florida and many other relatives. He was also preceded in death by his loving grandmother, Verna Crowe and his grandfather, Norman Crowe.

He loved riding motorcycles when he was younger and had been a motorcycle mechanic at the Fairton Marina. Later he drove tractor trailer for Cumberland Dairy, Northeast Foods, BC Trucking, Bobby Rissalano and Seabrook Brothers and Sons. He was a member of Teamsters Local Union, Philadelphia.

He enjoyed attending Haleyville Church of God as a young man with his grandparents. A part of the Hopi Indian tribe he was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed gardening and was well known for his pole beans and purple poles. He was especially fond of his blue 1995 Ford truck that he got from a good friend.

Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Thursday, November 1st at 11 am.

Burial will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Township.

Friends may call on Thursday from 10 to 11 am prior to the services at the funeral home.
