Helen A. Vandvelt, age 92, of Money
Island died Sunday, April 20, 2008 at South Jersey Hospital-Elmer. She
had been in declining health for the past six months.
Born in Atlantic City she was the daughter of the late Susan Hacking and
the wife of the late Thomas Vandvelt who died in 1989. She had been a
resident of Money Island since 1966 and prior to that had resided in
Camden and Somerdale.
Helen was an active member of the Downe Township Senior Center where she
had served as vice president until recently. An avid Philadelphia
Philies and Eagles fan she enjoyed arts and crafts, cooking and
traveling. She was also a former Cub Scout Den Mother.
Surviving are two daughters, Jeanne Vandvelt of Money Island who lived
with her mother and Patricia Wakeley of Williamstown; five grandchildren
including Melissa Vandvelt who assisted with Mrs. Vandvelts care and 10
great-grandchildren including Gage Muirheid who also assisted with her
care. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas Hoffman, a sister, Suzanne
Munyan and a brother, Joseph Munyan.
Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main
Street, Cedarville on Friday, April 25th at 12:30 p.m.
Interment will be made at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cedarville.
Friends may call on Friday from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services at
the funeral home.
