Johnnie Ray Wilson, Jr., 25, of
Lawrence Township, died suddenly of Friday morning, April 26, 2008, the
result of injuries received in a motorcycle accident on the Bridgeton-Fairton
Road, Fairfield Township.
Johnnie Ray was born in Bridgeton and was the son of Johnnie R. Wilson,
Sr. and Christine Pierce Wilson of Lawrence Township. He had lived in
Lawrence Township for 17 years and prior to that had resided in
Fairfield Township.
He had been employed with Super Lawns in Bridgeton and had also been
employed as an E.M.T. with Hart E.M.S. of Salem and with Mutual Aid
E.M.S. of Somers Point and also had worked part time for Dino’s
Restaurant in Cedarville. He had been a member of EMS Volunteer Services
for Fairfield Township and Lawrence Township. He was also a member of
Cumberland County Fire Police, N. J. State Forrest Fire Service and the
Fortescue Vol. Fire Co.
Johnnie loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and crabbing.
Besides his parents, survivors include: on son, Johnnie R. Wilson, III,
Lawrence Township; maternal grandparents, Walter E. Pierce and Carolyn
M. Pierce of Lawrence Township; paternal grandmother, Doris J. Wilson,
Fairfield Township; two aunts; three uncles and several cousins and also
his cherished friends, Sherman Pierce and Delise Laning. He was preceded
in death by his paternal grandfather, Willard Ray Wilson.
Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State
Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Wednesday, April 30, at 12:00
O’clock noon. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedarville. A
viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening between 6:00
and 8:00 O’clock and on Wednesday morning between 11:00 and 12:00
O’clock. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations, in Johnnie
Ray’s memory, to your local Volunteer Fire Co. and E. M. S. Services.
