Mary L. “Nancy” Baker, 81, of Upper
Deerfield Township, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Feb. 18, 2008,
in Fox Chase Hospital, Philadelphia, PA.
She was the wife of the late Arthur W. Baker, whom she had been married
to for 55 years before his passing in May of 2000. Born in Bridgeton she
was the daughter of the late Dr. Berta Whaland and had been a resident
of Upper Deerfield Township for the past twenty years and prior to that
had lived in Lower Hopewell Township.
Before her retirement she had been a teacher of Home Economics for many
years in the Bridgeton Public Schools.
Nancy was a member of the Cohansey Baptist Church and active in the Be
Ye Steadfast Sunday School Class.
Survivors include: three daughters, Marguerite Lipps and her husband
Carl E., Bridgeton; Kirsten A. Strand and her husband Philip, Carnation,
WA. And Berta W. Radcliffe and her fiancée Dennis Cross, Sacramento,
CA.; one son, Jerold W. Baker and his wife Nancy of Lower Hopewell
Township; five grandchildren, Mikael Strand, Mary Strand, Tori Radcliffe
and her fiancée Patrick Emmons, Andrew Baker and Sarah Baker. She was
preceded in death by a grandson, Carl T. Lipps.
Funeral services will be held at the Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State
Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Friday morning, Feb. 22nd, at
11:30 O’clock.
Burial will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Township.
Friends will be received on Thursday evening, Feb. 21st, between 6:30
and 8:30 pm. and on Friday, Feb. 22nd, between 10:30 and 11:30 am at the
funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in
Mrs. Baker’s memory be made to the Cohansey Baptist Church Scholarship
Fund, 714 Roadstown Road, Bridgeton, NJ 08302. Written condolences may
