Albert D. Cogdill, age 93, of Elmer,
went home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Hattie on Tuesday,
February 19, 2008. He had been a patient at South Jersey Hospital-Elmer
for four days and had been in declining health for the past two years.
Born in the Newport, Tennessee area
he was the son of the late Joe Cogdill and Mary Alice Shelton Cogdill.
He was the husband of the late Hattie Wilson Cogdill who passed away in
1982 and he had lived in the Elmer area most of his adult life.
Prior to his retirement he had been a
heavy equipment operator with the Budd Rich Construction Company in
Alloway since 1969. Before that he had worked for Seabrook Farms in
Upper Deerfield Township.
Albert was a hardworking man who was
devoted to his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his
generosity to others and his orneriness.
Surviving are two sons, Charles W.
Cogdill of Newport, TN and Linwood Cogdill of Pittsgrove Township; three
daughters, Mary Alice Carver of Bulls Gap, TN, Gayle Nelson with whom he
resided of Elmer and Kaye Smith of Newport, TN; a brother, Olenis
Cogdill of Newport, TN; a sister, Lora White of Knoxville, TN, 15
grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and a special mention of thanks to
a very special friend, Lin Cogdill for loving and taking care of him. He
was predeceased by a daughter, Shirley Ray Cogdill, three brothers,
Isaac, Walter and Furman Cogdill and two sisters, Thelma Anderson and
Martha Cogdill.
Funeral services will be private at
the convenience of the family.
Burial will take place at Olivet
Cemetery in Pittsgrove Township.
Arrangements are under the direction
of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway #77, Upper Deerfield
Township.
