Raymond C. Bard, 66, of Bridgeton,
died Thursday, July 24, 2008, in Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia
after a lengthy illness. He had been a patient at the hospital for the
past week.
The husband of Barbara Ann Johnson Bard, he was born in Bridgeton and
was the son of the late Raymond N. Bard and Rose Pierce Bard. He had
been a lifetime resident of Bridgeton.
Prior to his retirement in 2001 due to failing health, he had been
employed with the New Jersey Department of Corrections as a Senior
Corrections Officer with South Woods State Correctional Facility for a
number of years.
Raymond was trained in the Marshall Arts and was also an instructor. He
was an avid sailor, reader and photographer and was fascinated by
science.
Besides his wife, survivors include: three daughters, Trina Bard of Mays
Landing, Donna Johnson of Upper Deerfield Township and Barbara Bard of
Bridgeton; three sons, Paul Bard of Pleasantville, Raymond Bard of
Hammonton and William Bard of Bridgeton; two brothers, Lewis Bard of
Cedarville and Ronald Bard of Tennessee; one sister, Paulette Dukes of
Bridgeton; sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Johnson and a brother, James
Bard.
Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State
Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Friday, August 1st at 12:00
O’clock noon.
Burial will be at Laurel Lawn Cemetery, Upper Deerfield Township.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening between 6:00
and 8:00 O’clock.
