John H. Dairsow, Sr., 82, of
Bridgeton, died at the home of his daughter, Cherry Ann Barrett of
Laurel, Maryland, on Wednesday, July 16, 2008. He had been residing with
her during his illness.
A resident of the Bridgeton area for 50 years, he was born in Americus,
Ga., and was the son of the late Vicie Mitchell. Prior to living in
Bridgeton, he had resided in Panama during his military service.
John was a career Army veteran and had served during World War Two.
Following his retirement from the U. S. Army, he had been employed as a
forman with Bechtel Power Corp. for 17 years and prior to that as a
deputy with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department.
He had attended St. Teresa of Avila Roman Catholic Church in Bridgeton.
Besides his daughter Cherry Ann, survivors include: seven sons, Johnny
Lahanei of Germany, Clifton Dairsow, Maryland, Terry Dairsow, Maryland,
Joshua Dairsow, Bridgeton, John H. Dairsow, Jr., Bridgeton, Andrew
Dairsow, Maryland and Gregory Dairsow, Maryland; two sisters, Ula
Bartley, Bridgeton and Ann Davis, Bridgeton; sixteen grandchildren and
eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers,
Cleve Dairsow and Jesse Dairsow and three sisters, Florine Cook, Tracey
Phillips and Mary Crawford.
Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State
Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Monday morning, July 21st at
11:00 O’clock.
Burial will be in Gouldtown Memorial Park, Fairfield Township.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Monday morning between
10:00 and 11:00 O’clock. Written condolences may be sent to the family
