Jimmie Dawson, 69, of Upper Deerfield
Township, died in the South Jersey Regional Medical Center on Thursday
evening, July 3, 2008. He had been in failing health for the past month.
Born in Bybee, Tenn., he was the son of the late Fred Dawson and Ann
Freshour Dawson. He had lived in Upper Deerfield Township for 15 years
and prior to that had resided in Cape May.
He had been a farmer all of his working life and had been employed with
several farms in the Cumberland and Cape May areas.
Survivors include: two sons, James Frederick Dawson, Pittsgrove and
Jason Scott Dawson, Hopewell Township; five sisters, Mae Wines, Bybee,
Tenn., Mary Reeves, Laurel Lake, Helen Lauber, Millville, Ella Dacy,
Vineland and Artell Lee, Millville; four brothers, Harold Dawson, Cape
May, Claude Dawson, Bridgeton, Ronald Dawson, Millville and James
Dawson, Upper Deerfield and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by
two brothers, Frank Dawson and Sam Buckner.
It was Mr. Dawson’s desire to be cremated and that will take place in
Laurel Lawn Crematory, Upper Deerfield Township. A memorial service will
take place at the later date at the family lot in the Liberty Hill
Baptist Church Cemetery, Bybee, Tenn. Funeral arrangements are under the
direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township. Written
