Raymond L. Doughty, Jr., 80, of
Fairfield Township, died in the South Jersey Regional Medical Center on
Friday morning, July 4, 2008. He had been in failing health for the past
year and a half.
Born in Millville, he was the son of the late Raymond L. Doughty, Sr.
and Maybelle Atkinson Doughty. He had been a resident of Fairfield
Township for the past 37 years and prior to that had lived in Millville.
Retired for the past 23 years, Raymond had been employed in the
maintenance department with Wheaton Glass Co. in Millville for 37 years.
After his retirement, he had worked part time at the C Mart in Fairton
for several years.
Raymond was a member of the Glass Bottle Blowers Union, Local # 219. He
enjoyed working in his yard.
Survivors include: two sisters, Irene E. Elwell, Fairfield Township and
Carole J. Van Gilder, Fort Myers, Fla. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main St.,
Cedarville, on Thursday afternoon, July 10, at 1:00 O’clock. Burial will
be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville. A viewing will be held at the
funeral home on Thursday afternoon between 12:00 and 1:00 O’clock. In
lieu of flowers the family suggests donations, in Mr. Doughty’s memory,
to South Jersey Healthcare, Bridgeton Center for Dialysis, 333 Irving
Ave., Bridgeton, N. J. 08302. Written condolences may be sent to the
