Frank Everett “Bud” Laning, Jr., 81,
prominent Fairfield Township farmer and former Mayor of Fairfield
Township, died at his home on Tuesday evening, July1, 2008, surrounded
by his loving family.
Mr. Laning was co-founder of Laning Brothers Farms in Fairfield
Township. He was a former member of the Fairfield Township Committee and
was a past Mayor of the Township. He also was a former member and past
chief of the Fairfield Township Volunteer Fire Co. # 1. He was a former
member of the Fairfield Township Board of Education, the Cumberland
County Zoning and Planning Board, the Cumberland County Soil
Conservation Committee, New Jersey Agriculture Committee, Agway
Chairman, the Cumberland County Solid Waste Authority and the Cumberland
County Improvement Authority.
The husband of the late Edith Mullen Laning, who passed away in February
of this year, he was born in the Cedarville section of Lawrence Township
and was the son of the late Frank Everett Laning, Sr.. and Bessie E.
Graves Laning. Mr. and Mrs. Laning had celebrated their 60th wedding
anniversary in August of 2007.
Survivors include; one son, F. Everett “Buddy” Laning, III and his wife
Patti of Lawrence Township; two daughters, Patricia A. Miletta and her
husband Albert, Fairfield Township and Dianne E. Cocove and her husband
Michael, Upper Deerfield Township; four grandchildren, Sherri Payne,
Albert Miletta, Jr. and his wife Maria, Delise Katzmar and her husband
Barry and Maria Cocove; six great grandchildren, Amanda Nichols, Alexi
Payne, Kayla Porro, Samantha Miletta, Christina Miletta and Abigail
Miletta; one brother, J. Milton Laning, Fairfield Township; four
sisters, Betty Ayars Gaskill, Stow Creek Township, Shirley Gauntt,
Arizona, Eleanor Taylor, Cedarville and Alverna Wood, Fairton; aunt and
uncles, Margaret & Jim Howard and Lester Graves; he is also survived by
several nieces and nephews and his dedicated care-givers, Robin Boss and
Oneita Lewis Thompson.
Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State
Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Tuesday morning, July 8, at
11:00 O’clock. Entombment will take place in the family mausoleum at
Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Township. A viewing will take place at
the funeral home on Monday evening after 6:00 O’clock and Tuesday
morning between 10:00 and 11:00 O’clock. For those who desire,
