Rosa L. Perkins, 58, of Millville,
died at her home on Saturday, June 28, 2008. after a long and courageous
battle with cancer.
She was born in Lewisetta, Va. and was the daughter of the late James
Gaskins and Consola Hayman Gaskins. She had lived in Millville for the
past 40 years and prior to that had been a resident of Port Norris.
Rosa was the assistant supervisor of housekeeping at the Vineland
Developmental Center in Vineland, where she had been employed for 34
years.
She loved to read and watch Jeopardy on television.
Survivors include: three daughters, Selena “Kandi” Perkins, Staci
Perkins and Stephanie Perkins, all of Millville; three grandchildren,
Samuel Parker, Jr., Tariq Gaskins and Jordan Wright, all of Millville;
one brother, William Gaskins, Sr. (Mary), Absecon; four sisters, Mary
Belle Hayman, Vineland, Patricia Sheppard (Milton), Port Norris, June
Broughton, Bridgeton and Amy Griffin (Larry), Pittsgrove; two uncles,
Sylvester Hayman, (Minnie Pearl), Bridgeton and Columbus Hayman,
Neptune; one aunt, Margaret Hayman, Chiselhurst; over 100 cousins and
several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a
granddaughter, Emoni Jones.
Funeral services will be held in the Shiloh Baptist Church, Memorial
Avenue, Port Norris, on Thursday afternoon, July 3, at 1:00 O’clock.
Burial will be in Haleyville Cemetery, Commercial Township. A viewing
will be held at the church on Thursday between 11:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M.
