Norman E. Rolle, Sr., age 67, of
Deerfield Township died Thursday, June 12, 2008 at South Jersey Regional
Medical Center where he had been a patient for two days after an
extended illness.
Born in Hollywood, Florida he was the husband of Loretta Baker Rolle and
the son of the late Inez Rolle Bennett who died this past April and the
late Charles Burch. He had been a Deerfield Township resident for 24
years and had lived in Bridgeton prior to that.
Before his retirement 9 years ago Mr. Rolle had been employed with the
Mannington Mills Company for 34 years. He had also worked at the
Memorial Hospital of Salem County.
He was a member of Union Baptist Temple in Bridgeton, the Elks Wayman
Lodge in Salem, the former Renaissance Lodge in Salem and had sung with
the “Neurons” oldies singing group. Norman enjoyed cooking for church
functions, old cars and sports of all kinds. He had played ball in
Bridgeton with the “Men on the Move” softball team and was an avid
fisherman and Celtics fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Wendy
Winchester and her husband Reynold of Woodstown, Tina Carter and her
husband Russell of Paulsboro and Karen Price and her husband Fred of
Philadelphia; two sons, Norman E. Rolle, Jr., and his fiancée Aisha of
Carney’s Point and George Jamison and his wife Arnella of Rochester
Hills, MI; a sister, Patricia Bayron of Millville; two brothers, Alfred
Lamar of Bridgeton and Ronald Bennett, Jr. of Millville, 12
grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister,
Mary Lou Woodward.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 21st at 11 a.m. at Union
Baptist Temple, South Pine and Willow Streets, Bridgeton.
Burial will take place at Fordville Memorial Park in Fairfield Township
Friends may call on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the
services at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper
Deerfield Township.
