Gladstone S. Smart, age 75, of
Fairfield Township died Friday, June 6, 2008 at his home following four
years of declining health.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica he was the son of the late Walter Smart and
Edna Hanlon Smart. He had been a Fairfield Township resident for the
past 36 years and prior to that had resided in Florida.
Before his retirement he had been employed with Seabrook Brothers and
Sons in Upper Deerfield Township for over 20 years. He had also been
employed with the Kimble Glass Company and the Cumberland Pallet
Company.
In addition to his wife, Flora Burton of Fairfield Township he is
survived by five sons, Rufus Burton of Lewisville, GA, Raymond Burton of
Vineland, Richard Burton of Fairfield Township, Vernon Samples of
Fairburn, GA and Walter Burton of Fairfield Township; two daughters,
Janette Burton of Fairfield Township and Deborah Jones of Millville;
three sisters, Dapphne, Miss Lee and Faye, four brothers, 13
grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Union Baptist Temple, South Pine and
Willow Streets, Bridgeton on Friday, June 13th at 1 p.m.
Burial will take place at Fordville Memorial Park in Fairfield Township.
Friends may call on Friday from 12 to 1 p.m. prior to the services at
the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper
Deerfield Township.
