David N. Smith, age 72 of Port
Norris, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the South Jersey Regional Medical
Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Smith was born in Whitestone, Virginia to the late Easter Smith and
was the stepson of the late Alexander Davis. He was the husband of
Eleanor Smiley Smith and had been a Port Norris resident for nine years
moving there from Dover, Delaware.
A veteran of the United States Army he had served in both the Korean and
Vietnam Conflicts.
Before his retirement Mr. Smith had been employed as a supervisor with
Barry Van Lines in Dover, Delaware for 33 years.
He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Norris.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four brothers, Ellis Smith,
Jr. and his wife Jean of Iselin, Vernon Davis an his wife Georgia of
Port Norris, Alexander Davis and his wife Robin of Woodbine and Gilbert
Davis of Port Norris.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 21st at 12 noon at the
Shiloh Baptist Church, Memorial Avenue, Port Norris.
Interment will be made at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery in Commercial
Township.
Friends may call on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:00 noon prior to the
services at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME,
Cedarville.
