Eleanor L. Craner, 88, of Millville,
died unexpectedly on Friday, March 28, 2008, in the South Jersey
Regional Medical Center.
Born in Deerfield Township, she was the daughter of the late Joel Munyon
and Bertha Moore Chester. She was also the step-daughter of the late
Thurman Chester. Mrs. Craner had been a resident of Millville for 20
years. Prior to that she had lived in Newfield, Dividing Creek,
Cedarville and Bridgeton.
Prior to her retirement, she had been employed with Rennoc Corp. in
Vineland for several years.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, Post 82
of Millville and the Millville Eagles Lodge.
Eleanor was a survivor of Polio, with which she stricken with as a
teenager. She was also well known for her bread pudding and chicken pot
pie.
Survivors include: three daughters, Janice Laws and her husband John,
Dividing Creek; Elaine Ernst and her husband Bill, Millville and Mary L.
Craner, Millville; four sons, Earl C. Gandy and his companion Elsie
Smith, Hopewell Township, Robert C. Gandy and his wife Kathleen,
Newport, Donald L. Gandy, Millville and Thomas J. Craner, Millville; one
brother, Chester Munyon, Dividing Creek; twenty two grandchildren;;
thirty three great grandchildren and four nieces. She was preceded in
death by three sons, Wayne F. Gandy, John D. Craner and Gary Craner,
Sr.; an infant daughter, Janette Gandy, who was a twin to Janice; three
grandchildren and her dog Molly and her cat Sam.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening, April 1, at 8:00 O’clock,
at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield
Township.
Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedarville and will be private at
the convenience of the family.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening between
6:00 and 8:00 O’clock.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Mrs. Craner’s memory
to either the Cumberland County S.P.C.A., 1244 North Delsea Drive,
Vineland, N. J. 08360 or the Restoration of the Garden Fund for the
Shirley Eves Developmental Center, 313 North Tenth St., Millville, N. J.
