John B. “Big John” Williams, Jr., age
52 of Bridgeton died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the South Jersey
HospiceCare Unit in Bridgeton following a brief illness.
Born in Bridgeton and a lifetime area
resident he was the son of the late John B. Williams and Loretta Dolores
Nichols Williams and the husband of Debbie Joyce Williams.
John owned and operated Williams
Trucking Company in Bridgeton and also his own carpet installation
business.
He was a member of the Bridgeton
Midget Football League for nearly 20 years and had served as a press box
staff member and a former board member of the League. He was very active
behind the scenes of the football program along with his family. His
wife Debbie Joyce Williams was the clock operator, his son John B.
Williams, III serves as a coach for Big John’s Pizza Bulls, his daughter
Chasity Williams assisted with the 50/50 sales and other functions and a
grandson, John B. Williams, IV plays for the Big John’s Bulls team. He
was a former member of the 5th Ward Athletic Club and had been a coach
with the North Cumberland Little League.
Also surviving is his daughter
Chasity’s companion, Ed Hickman, his son John III’s wife Tina Garcia and
grandchildren Alexus Williams and Damyon Williams all residing in
Bridgeton; a brother, Roger O. Williams of Hopewell Township and four
sisters, Violet A. Peterson of Bybee, TN, Patricia A. Hayes of Newport,
TN, Dolores D. Lawrence of Hopewell Township and Judith A. Keener of
Stow Creek Township. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Williams.
Funeral services will be held at the
PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township
on Monday, March 10th at 11 a.m.
Burial will take place at Centerton
Free Will Baptist Cemetery in Pittsgrove Township.
Friends may call on Monday from 10 to
11 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
