Gazella Baker, age 78, of Upper
Deerfield Township died early Monday morning, May 26, 2008 at her home.
She had been in declining health for the past 19 months.
Born in Brownsville, PA, the daughter of the late Steven Sabo and Julia
Somonski Sabo she was the wife of Harley Baker. She had been an Upper
Deerfield Township resident for 45 years and had resided in Shiloh prior
to that.
Mrs. Baker was a homemaker and had previously been employed with the
former Owens Illinois Glass Company in Bridgeton.
She was a member of the Pearl Street Baptist Church where she had served
as a Church Deaconess.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening around her home and helping others when
they were in need and deeply loved her granddaughters.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Harley Baker and
his wife Bonnie, who considered her mother in law to be her best friend,
of Upper Deerfield Township; two granddaughters, Heather and Hillary
Baker both of Upper Deerfield Township; two sisters, Julia Frazier of
Brownsville, PA and Elizabeth Hoffstot of Boca Raton, FL; two brothers,
Julius Sabo and Billy Sabo both of Brownsville, PA and many nieces and
nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Melody Lynn Baker, a sister,
Marjorie Neel and 7 brothers, Emory, Bert, Steven, Bruce, Albert, Zoltan
and Eugene Sabo.
Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State
Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Friday, May 30th at 2 p.m.
Burial will take place at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield
Township.
Friends may call on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the services at the
funeral home.
The family asks that contributions in Mrs. Baker’s memory be made to the
Pearl Street Baptist Church, 139 North Pearl Street, Bridgeton, NJ
08302.
