Catherine A. Essler, age 85, of
Pennsville, died peacefully at the Rainbow Center on Monday, April 20,
2009.
Catherine was the wife of the late
Harry E. Gilman and Paul Samuel Curley. Born in Paterson, NJ on July 23,
1923, she was the daughter of the late Severo Espi and Armonia Pinon
Espi. She had been a Pennsville resident since 1969 and lived in
Bridgeton prior to that.
Before her retirement she was
employed at Owens-Illinois Glass Company during World War II, and then
worked at the Anchor-Hocking Glass Company in Salem for 35 years.
Catherine belonged to the Order of
the Elk’s, Deerfield Township, G.M.P Union Local 21 and the Ladies
Auxiliary of William T. Whitaker Post 1952 -VFW in Pennsville.
She is survived by her two sons,
Raymond Gilman and wife Theresa of Upper Deerfield Township and Harry
Gilman and wife Marlene of Flager Beach, FL, four grandchildren and
eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Hope Hess of Upper Deerfield
Township and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a
brother, Franklin Espi (Rose), a sister, Blanche Hall (Jim) and a
brother in law, Frank Hess.
Funeral Services will be held at the
PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on
Friday, April 24th at 11 am.
Burial will take place at Laurel Lawn
Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Township.
Friends will be received at the
funeral home on Friday from 10 to 11 am.
