Irving J. W. Williams, 84, of Del
Rio, Tenn., passed away in the Memorial Hospital of Salem County, on
Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, after a lengthy illness.
The husband of the late Loretta F.
Williams nee Sutphin, he was born in Del Rio and was the son of the
late Robert J. Williams and Edna Gregg Williams. He had lived in Del
Rio for 8 years and prior to that he had been a resident of Salem for
30 years.
Retired for the past 30 years,
Irving had formerly been employed with General Motors Corp. in
Delaware for 34 years.
He was a veteran of World War Two,
serving in the U. S. Army. He was a member of Lincoln Baptist Church
in Newport, Tenn., and while in New Jersey he attended the Centerton
Free Will Baptist Church.
He loved wood working and
gardening.
Survivors include: three sons,
Kelly L. Legg and wife Connie, Elmer; Billy J. Legg, Del Rio, Tenn.
and Michael D. Williams and his wife Traci, Pennsville; two daughters,
Mary Gallagher, Pennsville and Veronica R. Hoyle, Pennsville; a
daughter-in-law, Darlene Williams, Pennsgrove; two brothers, Bill
Williams and Jim Williams, both of Bridgeton; three sisters, Ruth
Moore, Elmer, Sue Jenkins, Bridgeton and Peggy Fuerneisen, Bridgeton;
seventeen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by; a daughter, Patsy Rose Williams; three sons,
Irving Williams, Jr., Isaac Legg and Roger Legg; four brothers,
Charles Williams, Oliver Williams, John Williams and Herb Williams and
a sister, Dean Paulitis.
Funeral services will be held in
the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield
Township, on Monday afternoon, Dec. 28, at 1:00 O’clock. Burial will
be in the Centerton Free Will Baptist Cemetery, Pittsgrove Township. A
viewing will be held at the funeral home on Monday morning between
