Abe Harold Sr., age 83, departed this
life on May 16, 2009 at South Jersey Regional Medical Center after an
extended illness.
Born on July 29, 1925 to the late
Elliott Lee Harold and Richetta Vines in Norfolk, VA, he was the loving
husband of Lillie B. (Gibbs) Harold for the past 64 years.
Abe and his wife lived together in
Vineland for the past 30 years, prior to that they lived in Monroeville
and Clayton.
He served in the United States Navy
where he was stationed in California for 4 years and fought in the Pearl
Harbor War.
Abe worked for Seabrook in Swedesboro
for many years as well as Anchor Hockins Glass. He retired from Bally’s
Hotel and Casino after 10 years.
He attended Faith Outreach
Deliverance Church under Apostle Roma D. Allen, and later joined
Heaven’s Way Baptist Church under Pastor John Wesley Mack of Vineland.
He enjoyed gospel singing, going to church and spending time with his
family at cookouts. He especially loved time spent with his
grandchildren.
He leaves behind many precious
memories, his wife of 64 years, Lillie B. Harold, 10 children, Minister
Lujean Ferrell (Michael), Abe Harold Jr., Otis Harold (fiancée Trina),
Shirley Redden, Linda Harold (fiancée Sidney), Evangelist Rose Armstead
all of Vineland, Apostle Larry Harold (Pastor Jenny) of Atlantic City,
Danny Harold of Buena, Elliott Harold of Vineland and Dottie Skinner
(Gary) of Salem; 47 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and
great-great-grandchildren; 2 brother-in-laws, Buddy Gibbs of North
Carolina and Benny Gibbs of Seabrook; sister-in-law, Mattie Braxton of
Seabrook; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Abe was preceded in death by
grandsons, Tron & Bruce; brothers, Clyde, Nick and Jimmy; and
son-in-law, Cleveland T. Armstead, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to
attend funeral services on Saturday, May 23rd at the Voice of
Deliverance New Covenant Church, 1413 E. Chestnut Ave, Vineland at 11
am. Burial will take place in Cedar Green Cemetery in Clayton.
Visitation will be held prior to services Saturday morning from 9 to
11am in the church.
