Richard “Nick” Bowen, age 80, of
Hopewell Township, NJ died Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at his home
following a brief illness.
Born in Linwood, NJ on June 17, 1929
he was the son of the late Mark Bowen and Martha Larned Bowen and was
the husband of the late Dorothy Mae Wyatt Bowen. He had been a resident
of Cumberland County, NJ most of his life.
A veteran of the United States Marine
Corps he was self employed for the past 11 years and owned and operated
Aircraft Repair and Restoration in Shiloh. He had also formerly been
employed with Wide Sky Aviation, Rainbow Aviation and Aircraft Support
Services all in Millville and the Boeing Aircraft Corporation in both
Pennsylvania and Georgia. Richard had served as a Game Officer in
Fairfield Township and a Police Officer in Lawrence Township.
He was a member of St. Andrew’s
Episcopal Church in Bridgeton.
Surviving are four daughters, Linda
Orner (Robert) of Folsom, PA, Ruth Nowrey (Thomas) of Glenolden, PA,
Karen Irons (Bruce) of Cape May, NJ and Rebecca Thompson (Kevin) of
Upper Deerfield Township, NJ; two sons, Richard L. Bowen, Jr. (Gloria)
of Tucson, AZ and Christopher Bowen (Ashley) of Shiloh, NJ; a sister,
Barbara Deming of Hopewell Township, NJ, 15 grandchildren and 9
great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, Thomas Mark Bowen
and Alexander James Bowen.
Friends will be received at the
PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township
on Monday evening, March 29th from 6 to 8 PM.
Funeral services will be held at St.
Steven’s Episcopal Church, 128 Chester Pike, Norwood, PA on Tuesday,
March 30th at 10 AM.
Burial will take place at Arlington
Cemetery in Drexel Hill, PA.
In lieu of flowers the family asks
that contributions in Mr. Bowen’s memory be mad to the Millville Army
Airfield Museum, 1 Leddon Street-Millville Airport, Millville, NJ 08332.
